The Guppy

The guppy (Poecilia reticulata), also known as the millionfish,[1] is one of the most popular freshwater aquarium fish species in the world, Guppies are native to India[citation needed], Barbados, Brazil, Guyana, Netherlands Antilles, Trinidad and Tobago, the US Virgin Islands, Venezuela (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guppy). Since 2000 then more sophisticated guppy cultivation has produced so many fin variations and color varieties that their description alone would fill a book. Today there are regular contests and shows at which the entries are judged according to an international standard of excellence, and many a novice who purchased his first guppies in all innocence remains "hooked" on these little fish for life. Guppies can be kept in community tank and adapt very well since they are nonaggressive toward other species. The guppy is an excellent choice for beginners and experts alike.
